Cardiovascular Disease - Venous Thromboembolism
Changes/additions to materials (29th April 2010):
Since these materials were published, NICE has published new guidance which aims to reduce the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients admitted to hospital, including day case patients. This replaces its previous guidance relating to surgical patients (CG46, April 2007). See NPCi blog for details.
NICE also published a technology appraisal on rivaroxaban▼ for the prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) after hip and knee surgery. It recommends oral rivaroxaban▼ (Xarelto®) as an option for the prevention of VTE in adults having elective total hip replacement surgery or elective total knee replacement surgery. Please see our blog for a brief summary of the guidance.
